About the Event

A bit about Paul : He has visited over 60 countries and been a travel lecturer since 2003, giving over 120 talks annually and also on cruise ships, which fund his charitable giving to :

Myanmar (Burma) World Vision – 3 child sponsorships plus grants for community projects

  • India Darjeeling Railway Community Support – health and education projects
  • Egypt The Brooke –animal welfare programmes there and elsewhere
  • Nepal British Gurkha Welfare Trust

He served in the Territorial Army, Royal Signals, for 34 years and has written and published a history of his regiment. Paul is a keen military historian and also has a great interest in heritage transport being Vice Chairman of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway Society, a member of several UK steam railways and the Wey and Arun Canal trust. In 2018 he contributed to, and appeared in, the Quest TV railway documentary series ‘How Trains Changed The World’.

In 1999 Paul was appointed a Freeman of the City of London following a professional career in banking and then as a Human Resources Manager. He is currently President of the Banstead and District Club for the Blind.
